ABOUT THE LOCATION
Naches, Washington is located along US Hwy 12 just 15 miles west of the Agricultural hub of Yakima and only a short 2-hour drive east of the Western Washington communities of Olympia, Tacoma, and Seattle in Washington, as well as Portland, Oregon. Naches is a small rural community perched at the gateway to outdoor adventure on both US Hwy 12 (White Pass) and US Hwy 410 (Chinook Pass). At 1550’ elevation, Naches enjoys dry warm spring, summer, and fall, and cool moist winters. Naches is a full-service community and a gateway to outdoors in the southern and central Cascades of Washington.
The population of the town is around 600 people, the surrounding communities offer elbow room between population centers. The climate is ideal with summer temperatures in the mid-70s to upper-80s, and a few days in the 90s. Rimrock and Bumping Lakes provides plenty of swimming, boating, and fishing opportunities in the summer; 3 wilderness areas provide ample hiking trails, while the Little Naches Recreation area provides; excellent single track for mountain biking, and motorcycle riding, as well as a vast network of Jeep trails. Sunshine is common in all seasons, and the climate growing season provide a bounty of gardening opportunities. Nearby Yakima hosts a regional hospital, an integrative health clinic, dentists, chiropractors, and optometrists. Naches and Yakima also have multiple service stations, grocery stores, motels, banks, lumber yards, a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, wineries, and distilleries. A wide variety of shopping, farmers markets, daycare centers, multiple public golf courses and a regional airport. Numerous churches are located throughout the area. Naches has an excellent k-12 public school system. The community has an excellent grade school, new middle school, and high school. Numerous extra-curricular activities and electives are available. There is a strong winter sports program, with both downhill and Nordic after school ski programs.
